I remember when I went to collect the Motocompo: I did not check anything — not whether any parts were missing, what physical condition it was in, or whether it would start. I simply signed the delivery note and took it home. Once in my garage, I took a proper look at the Motocompo and analysed it carefully. What a rusty lump of metal! I had bought a bike in very poor condition without seeing it in person.
At first glance I could not see anything good. It had been brush-painted with household paint, all the metal parts were rusty, and it had no key to start it. The previous owner had used a lamp switch to turn the bike on. Here is a photo of that detail…
And this was the condition of the blue paint, where the brush marks were clearly visible.
And that is it for the first impressions once the Motocompo arrived at my house. In the next post I will explain what it looked like inside, after removing the blue panels and inspecting the frame, engine and components.
