Honda Motocompo disassembled for inspection of rust and corrosion

After removing the bodywork, wheels and main exterior components, the Motocompo was completely exposed so its real condition could be assessed.

At this stage there was nowhere left to hide anything: with the structure fully visible, it was clear that the bike had suffered far more than it initially appeared.

A worse condition than expected

The disassembly confirmed the presence of extensive rust and corrosion across different areas of the chassis, brackets, fasteners and metal components. Accumulated dirt, ageing parts and exposed wiring were also visible — clear signs of a long life without a thorough deep maintenance process.

According to the information available, this unit was used exclusively within the estate of its first and only owner in Mallorca. That limited use did not prevent deterioration: the environment, humidity and the passing of time had left their mark on practically the entire structure.

This inspection was essential before moving forward. With the bike fully stripped, the next step will be to decide which parts can be recovered, which ones need to be replaced, and which areas will require cleaning, corrosion treatment and repainting.

Restoration truly begins when the real condition of the bike is revealed. In this case, the diagnosis is clear: there is a lot of work ahead.
